DIY Counter Cleaner Recipe! (Safe on Marble & Granite)
Cleaning natural stone surfaces can be intimidating for many homeowners. These surfaces are expensive and delicate, so it's crucial to use the right cleaning products to avoid causing damage. Fortunately, there’s a simple and inexpensive DIY natural stone cleaner that can be safely used to clean counters, leaving them streak-free and looking great.
The key to this DIY cleaner's effectiveness is its balanced formulation. The small amount of dish soap lifts dirt and grime without leaving a soapy residue behind, which is common with cleaners that use too much soap. The rubbing alcohol helps the cleaner dry quickly to a streak-free shine. This formula ensures that your stone surfaces are cleaned effectively without the need to rinse afterward. Additionally, the essential oils not only add a pleasant scent but also enhance the overall cleaning experience. To make this DIY cleaner:
- Start with a clean spray bottle.
- 1 3/4 cups of water
- 1 tsp dish soap
- 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol.
- For an extra touch, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil—orange oil is a great choice for its pleasant scent. (optional)
- Shake well to combine.
- Spray liberally and use a Maker's Clean All-Purpose microfiber cloth to wipe clean.
This cleaner is effective, safe, and easy to make, and it can be used on any sealed natural stone surface in your home. We usually make this and keep it under our sink for on-demand use—it usually lasts about a week.
Happy cleaning!
